Wrestlers Begin Screening For BRF Wrestlemania, Oshiomhole Tourney

Nigeria Wrestling Federation, NWF, has begun screening of the local wrestlers that will feature in the forthcoming 1st Adams Oshiomhole Wrestling Championship and the second edition of BRF Intercontinental Wrestlemania.

 In a release signed by the President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, NWF, Prince Olanrewaju Mohammed, about 145 wrestlers in various categories would be screened for the two international fights, Oshiomhole tournament in Edo State in October and the BRF Wrestlemania in Lagos State in December as the two championships will hold before the end of the year.

 "The screening is currently going on at the National Stadium. Surulere, Lagos. Some of the wrestlers include Tony Destroyer from Delta State, Super Haculis from Kwara, Super Rosco (Kwara), Sion Lion (Akwa Ibom), Big Fishi (Enugu), Licence To Kill (River State), Super King (Imo), Hot Tempo (Anambra), Strong Bone (Edo), Iron Scatter (Imo), Ariba Swan (Abuja), Bmaki Sakare (Adamawa), Lady Bunmi (Lagos), Afro de Giant (Delta), Mighty Man (Benue), Mr. Shop Man (Imo), Mr.' Kixe (Balyesa), Monk Man (Ogun), Flying Danko (Nasarawa), Super Billy Akosile (Edo) and a host of others," said Mohammed, a former Nigeria and Intercontinental champion.

 "After the screening, our technical committee will now choose 70 wrestlers, 35 for each of the two fights. These Nigerian wrestlers will join the league of foreign wrestlers who will come to Nigeria for the tournaments.

We are expecting 25 foreign wrestlers for both Lagos and Edo championships (15 from Europe, 6 from America and 4 from Asia) Mohammed disclosed that the wrestlers will compete in eight weight categories.

The categories are Extra Super Heavyweight, Super Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight, Cruiserweight, Middleweight, Survival Series, Ladder title and the Ladies’ bout.

“For the BRF Wrestlemania, Banilux Bulldog from Scotland and Bambikiller of Austria will qualify automatically for the Royal Rumble and the heavyweight bouts because they are the defending champions respectively, while all weight categories are opened in the Oshiomhole tourney.

“We also have awards for the best wrestlers, the most brutal fight, the most entertaining fight and the most colourful wrestlers in the two tournaments,” Mohammed said.
