NFF prepared for Dream Team, Super Falcons’ matches

Written By sportsweight.blogspot.com on Sunday, April 24, 2011 | 11:56 PM

The Nigeria Football Federation has assured that it is fully prepared for the two big international matches it is hosting in Nigeria this weekend.

On Saturday, the Dream Team will entertain Liberia in an All-Africa Games qualifying match in Benin City, following a 1-1 draw in Monrovia last weekend, while the national women’s team, Super Falcons take on arch rival, Black Queens of Ghana in an All-Africa Games qualifier in Abuja on Sunday.

“Of course, we are fully prepared for these matches. We have done most of the groundwork for the two matches before coming to South Africa for the African Youth Championship, and some key personnel would have to return to Nigeria during the week ahead of the games”, said NFF’s Acting General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu.

The Federation's Acting Secretary, Musa Amadu, spoke in Johannesburg following the Flying Eagles’ 2-0 win over Gambia that qualified Nigeria for the tournament’s last four and this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.

He said the presence of the Federation's officials at South Africa does not imply that they have not done necessary work in ensuring that the national teams have a hitch free international matches, stressing that Mohammed Sanusi, Chris Green and himself would arrive Nigerian before the weekend matches.

Amadu spoke in Johannesburg following the Flying Eagles’ 2-0 win over Gambia that qualified Nigeria for the tournament’s last four and this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.

“There is nothing to worry about, because apart from the work we have done and the persons who would return to Nigeria to go and perfect everything before those games, the Deputy General Secretary (Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme) is on ground in Nigeria”, Amadu added.

Assistant General Secretary (Competitions), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi flew out of Johannesburg to Nigeria on Sunday, and chairman of Technical Committee, Barrister Chris Green and Amadu himself are among officers who would be flying back to Abuja mid-week.
