Nigeria’s most consistent chess tournament is set to hold next Saturday June 4 at the Sports Center of University of Lagos.

The tournament is open to participation of all members of the general public.

Several top players have indicated interest in showing up including Fide Master Olamide Ajibowo who won the last edition and is currently the most sensational player in the country across different tournaments.

The OAU Ile-Ife graduate who distinguishingly represented the country at the last chess Olympic will be challenged by the likes of Bunmi Olape, a top ten Nigeria player for the past 14 years and Charles Campbell who is noted for making few mistakes at the board.

Other contenders include Dapo Odugbesan, Toyin Jegede and Olaonipekun Agusto.

The major sponsor of the event is Honourable Wasiu Sanni-Eshinlokun, the chairman of Lagos Island Local Government.

Another sponsor, Yemi Abioye, is offering a prize to any unknown player who places in the first to fifth position.
