BRF Wrestlemania To Hold September

The much awaited Intercontinental Wrestling Championship packaged to honour Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola will hold in September.

Chairman of the Technical Committee of the tournament, which is tagged BRF Wrestlemania 2011, Hammed Mohammed, said that circumstances beyond the control of the Local Organising Committee, LOC headed by Primate Charles Odugbesi, were responsible for the several postponements of the championship, which is to be staged to honour Governor Fashola for his contribution to the development of sports in the state.

Mohammed, a former Afro-Asian wrestling champion told Sportsweight.blogspopt.com at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos that “we are now ready to stage the tournament.

There was delay because we don’t want to organise a competition that won’t befit our dear governor in term of standard and good organisation. I want to tell the world that after much deliberation and planning the technical committe in conjucntion with the LOC headed by Primate Odugbesi have chosen three days in the first two weeks of September for the tourney, and we have communicated this to the Governor for his approval before we’ll make the actual date public.”

Mohammed also disclosed that the technical committee that consists of former Nigerian wrestlers such as Morris Atula has drawn up a schedule of bouts in the three days events.

He said: “The technical committee of eminent former Nigerian wrestlers have come up with a good schedules for the chmapionship. Day One will see Maximum Capacity of USA taking on Apama Akasili of Nigeria.

Chris Bambikiller of Australia will fight Fahad Shaweshi of Kuwait. Afro de Giant vs. Hercules, Nouden Datsa of Central Africa Republic will fight Martins the Bull from Holland, while Lady Bunmi will battle Glamour Becky.

On Day Two, it will be the turn of Strong Bone vs. Power Lee, Iron Scatter vs. Super King, Missing Link of South Africa vs. Rokcy Johnson of Nigeria, Virgo Lee of Nigeria vs. Stephan from Cameroon and Tyamupepe vs of DR Congo vs Super Rosco of Nigeria.

The final day will see winners in various bouts in the first two days fighting it out to win the coveted prizes and trophies for the champions.
