1 GAME founder Philip Obaji says he enjoys a good relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) despite recently expressing his displeasure at the progress of the game in the country.
Obaji has been the subject of a number of conversations in football lately after he told the media a forthnight ago that the nation’s football was not well organized, a comment seen as unnecessary by some quarters.
But the Cross River State Football Association Executive Committee Member insisted on Sunday that there was nothing between him and the Country’s football governing body except friendship.
“I had to express my feelings that way because I felt we must realize the truth to be able to move the game forward. My comments were not directed to anyone in particular. I only made a wake up call.
“I have a good relationship with the Nigeria Football Federation. It has been like that for some time and hopefully it will remain that way for a very long time. The President Aminu Maigari and the entire board have supported me and 1 GAME and I’m grateful.
“He (Aminu Maigari) has always told me to join in developing football in the country and that has propelled me to put in more effort especially with 1 GAME and I’ve told him I’ll always put the game first in all I do which is what we must all do,” he said.
Obaji joined football administration nearly eight months ago by virtue of being elected into the board of the Cross River State football Association where he also serves as Chairman of the Media and Marketing Committee.
He is widely noted in football for introducing the 1 GAME campaign which aims at combating violence and fanaticism in all aspects of the game.
