
The Lagos Junior League has concluded a two day coaches seminar designed for all the coaches and team managers whose teams would be featuring in the league scheduled to kick- off on the 17th of September, 2011.
The seminar which came to a close on Tuesday at the Campos Stadium,Lagos Island, attracted over sixty football coaches and team managers as the league management recently concluded seminars for medical pratitioners, match commissioners, referees and sports officers.
While speaking, the league technical director, Tunde Disu, said the training became imperative to uplift the grading and standrad of the coaches and also to create a platform for the young football players to sharpen their skills through the coaches.
Disu, said the programme which involved football technocrats, Roger Appleby, a consultant to the government on football development,Tade Azeez, Vice Chairman of Lagos State Football Association and himself delved on the Laws of the game,importance of warming up, qualities of a good coach,importance of fitness, tactics and techniques among others, stressin that the move would enable the players to understand math formation either 4- 4- 2 ,4 - 3- 3 or 4 - 2 - 3- 1.
The former Flying Eagles coach, said the Lagos Junior League decided to expose the coaches to football set pieces so that the football players would have adequate understanding of basic techniques of football, adding that European players are ooften prefered to African players because they were expose to such skills at tender age.
He is optimistic that the Lagos Junior League would be a model of modern football to other states of the Federationas they are building avirile structure for the growth of football, coaches and sports managers.
While noting that the management of the league has to invest on coaches to boost the league image,Disu, said Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, has paved the way for its
success, thus they must enrich it with series of programme to amke the league the best ever junior football league in Nigeria.
Premier League according to him would be on every Thursday,Saturday and Sunday, League One will be played on every Monday, Friday while League two will come p on Wednesdays.
