Chairman of the Cross River State Football Association Media and Marketing Committee, Philip Obaji says he will prefer to stay entirely out of football than being in a system that is totally unorganized.
Obaji who is the founder of the 1 GAME: Football without Violence campaign, has been with the Cross River State Football Association set up for the past seven months since been elected in January 2011 as the youngest member of the board.
He spoke ahead of the ill fated National League match between Unicem Rovers and Bayelsa United in Calabar and said he would quit the Association's Executive Committee and administration of the game in general if the current trend of football administration in the country continues.
Obaji, admitted that the Association had lots of shortcomings, which is not just peculiar to the Cross River FA alone, but the entire spectrum of Nigeria football, adding that there are problems of football administration in Nigerian.
"I must admit the Association has lots of shortcomings, it is not just peculiar to the Cross River FA alone, but the entire spectrum of Nigeria football. We have a problem of organization and it is killing the game.
"My worry is that I am part of a body that has made numerous promises to the people that choose me to represent and implement policies that will make football better and beneficial to the public but is not doing so. I feel sad and I sometimes feel like quitting.
"I've always said that I won't go against the constitution I swore to uphold. If we can't deliver on the promises we've made to the people, then I'll take the most noble step of quitting," he said.
