Governor of Lagos state, Mr Babatunde Fashola has inaugurated local organizing committee for the 18th National Sports festival which the state will host later in the year.
The 29-man LOC headed by deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire was charged by the Governor to deliver the best games ever in the history of the National sports festival.
Inaugurating the committee for the Lagos 2012,Governor Fashola said the caliber of people that would drive the hosting of the mini olympics would not only ensure successful games but a spectacle that will exceed the standard of the previous festival.
The governor who opined that there is too much of Government presence in sports development stated that the festival which will be driven by the private sector through its efficiency and power if enterprise....
Governor Fashola reposed confidence in the committee which had some members of the state executive as well as giants of Nigeria corporate, legal, political and social
world to set the precedence for hosting excellence National Sports Festival.
Chairman of the local organizing comittee, Princess Orelope-Adefulire who expressed gratitude of the committee for the opportunity to serve said Lagos would meet the obligations and responsibilities of hosting.
The deputy Governor, added that Lagos would matched its excellence in hosting the tournament and play by the rules regarding the agreement signed with the National Sports commission respecting the mini olympics Games
Vice chairman of the LOC who doubles as the state commissioner for Sports, Wahid Enitan Oshodi promised that Lagos would host the best games with the help of the corporate world, adding that the quality of people in the committee has given him the confidence that the Games would be a huge success
