Eagles To Tackle Wasps In Hot Sun

Written By sportsweight.blogspot.com on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 | 10:46 PM

The 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifying cracker between Rwanda and Nigeria will start at 3.30pm in the afternoon, which will be 1.30pm in Nigeria.

A letter from the Federation Rwandaise de Football Association (FERWAFA) received by the Nigeria Football Federation also confirmed that the artificial turf of the Amahoro National Stadium in the capital, Kigali will host the battle.

The Super Eagles battled the Wasps to a 1-1 draw at the same venue in a 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying match, Nigeria’s equalizer coming late in the game after Osaze Odemwingie set up Obafemi Martins.

The return leg will be played in Nigeria in mid-June and the winner on aggregate will proceed to the final round of qualifiers, against one of the teams that played in the just-concluded 2012 African Cup of Nations.

That final round of qualifiers will take place between September and October, to determine the teams that will play at next year’s African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

South African referee Daniel Bennett, who took charge of the 2012 Cup of Nations semi final clash between Zambia and Ghana, will be the centre referee.
