Season 5, MTN Lagos Street Soccer Will Be Far Better, Says Aladegbemi.

As part of efforts to regenerate the season five, Lagos MTN Street Soccer Championship, the Local Organising Commitee,LOC,has widen the scope of the competition with the introduction of female and corporate football.

The gesture is geared at elevating the status of the Five - A - Side football competition which has become a household name in Lagos State.

The annual which has been scheduled to kick off on Sunday 17th of April, 2012 at Campos Stadium will feature female and corporate football event as the L.O.C has also designed a Player Mentoring Programe and Talents Hunt for all the participating teams.


Secretary of the Committee, Deji Aladegbemi, said the gesture was to create a platform for the Nigerian female football players to exhibit the talents in them to admiration of football scouts who might help them to attract the attention of Nigerian Female clubs managers and also the national female coaches.

To him, female football has come of age in the country and there is need to popularize the game to produce world class stars who would stand out as a better replacement for aging Super Falcons, stressing that the Corporate bodies whose staff are well endowed in the game of soccer would also have the opportunity of easing tension after a week long business activities.

The Committee's Secretary, said the enormous pilot scheme was designed to look out for talented football players who would be mentored and nurtured for a year with the sole aim of helping them to attract amateur, academy or professional football clubs.

Aladegbemi, who explained that the female and Corporate street soccer championship would come on stage on weekend basis at the Campos Stadium, Lagos Island after the main Lagos MTN Street Soccer Championship has reached the round of sixty four(64), said the stadium would be dedicated to them as the final of the female and corporate street soccer championship would be played on the day set aside to wrap up season five edition of the annual competition at the Campos Stadium.

In a bid to pave the way for the female and corporate street soccer to have a flare of the sports complex which comes up with a synthetic turf, the Secretary, said the male matches from the round of sixty four would be moved to one of the accredited centres, Elegbata playground which hosted one of the competition's final couple of years ago.

He stressed that the eventual winner in the female cadre would smile home with a million Naira, first runners up gets thee sum of five hundred thousand naira, second runners up would grab the sum of three hundred thousand naira while the fourth place team enjoy the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand naira.

Winner of season five,Lagos MTN Street Soccer Championship will get the sum of five million naira, first runner up smiles home with three million naira, second runner up grab two million naira just as thee fourth place team gets a million naira.

The committee's secretary said about four hundred and fifty(450)clubs that featured in last year's edition had been intimated of this year's edition through a bulk Short Message Service, SMS, as the responses through the social networks, facebook, twitter and the tournament's website, www.lagosstreetsoccer.com, have been enormous.

To this end, the committee has concluded arrangement to attract many football clubs through town storming campaign billed to begin on Saturday 25th of February to 9th of March, 2012.
