The first KGI All African Junior Golf Championships at the IBB Golf &
Country Club Abuja, ended with the first ever Junior Match Play event
between the International Team and the Nigerian Team.
The teams competed for the Gureje-Thompson cup which was named after the family name of the President and Founder of Kid Golf International Prince Kehinde Thompson.
The international team won by 3 points beating the Nigerian team who had only 2 points in a well fought battle.
The wining team comprised of Jordan Thompson and Gampal Shagaya from the USA, Sean Kennedy and Georgia Oboh from Great Britain and Neo Mokgatle from South Africa. while the Nigerian Team was made of Paul Odoh, Anne Addeh, Samuel Machang, Peter Keys Lot and Wadak Zingak.
In a remark by Prince Thompson, the aim of the event was to foster international relationship through competitive golf among the lads.
He further added that It was amazing to see how well the kids competed knowing fully well they were competiting as a team for their respective countries.
He sad preparations were underway to ensuring that the 23 young golfers
who have qualified will proceed to the U.S Kids European Championships
in Gullane, Scotland in June 2012 to show the rest of the world that
Nigeria has young bright golfers.
