
Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba will be a beehive of activities as the Lagos State Basketball Association,LSBBA, is staging a 2-Day Basketball Classics aimed at discovering and nurturing basketball talents from the grass-root.
The 2-Day action packed event open on Thursday with fourteen youth teams in the men and women categories drawn from across the state.
Preliminary round of the classics will be decided on Thursday while the semi finals, third place and grand finale hold Friday with a mixture an exhibition game by two Under 14 teams.
The eight men team are divided into two equal groups of four teams each while the women group is made up of three teams per group.
According to the fixtures, Eko Fliers will take on Freedom Rains, Customs Versus Hope ‘4’ Girls in the women cadre while Eko Fliers will do battle against Warlords.
Raptors will take to the floor against Warriors Academy; Police Rookies versus UNILAG International School and Lagos Flames battling it out against Bounce 9ja in the men category.
According to the technical director of the LSBBA, Gbade Olatona, the competition was aimed at jump-starting competitive basketball activities ahead of the EKO 2012 Games.
