The Lagos State Football Association has expressed a deep shock at the death of former Super Eagles' goal banger, Rashidi Yekini.
The LSFA Chairman, Seyi Akinwunmi said that the news of Yekini's death was a rude shock to him, saying that the late former footballer legacy stood out as a dedicated and committed player while in the national team.
The former African Footballer of the year and Super Eagles goal king, Rashidi Yekini has since been buried according to Islamic rites in his native town, Ira in Kwara State.
It would be recalled that Yekini scored Nigeria's first goal ever at the World Cup, USA '94. He played for UNTL FC, Kaduna, Shooting Stars of Ibadan, Abiola Babes, Abeokuta, African Sports, Cote d' Ivoire, Victoria Setubal of Portugal, Olympiacos of Greece, Sporting Gijon of Spain and Gateway FC.
