Ex-Abiola Babes Win Memorial Cup, All Hail Late Pillar Of Sports.

Selected players of the defunct Abiola international football club of Abeokuta piped All stars football club of Lagos 1-0 to win in the maiden MKO Abiola Memorial Cup held on Tuesday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
Godwin Bazuaye scored the only goal in the second half of the match which has attracted former Nigerian football players.
The football match which was organised in memory of the Africa's first pillar of sports and political cum philanthropist was sponsored by the Lagos state government through the office of the senior special assistant to the governor on grassroots sports development headed by Prince Wale Oladunjoye.
All stars football club without their talisman striker, Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola SAN lost to the former players of Abiola Babes captained by Ex-international Tajudeen Disu who is also the convener of the event.
In a post match interview, Disu, who promise that the competition will be an annual event, said it was a great privilege for the former player of the Abiola football club to honour the memory of chief MKO Abiola, adding that he is delighted with the support of the Lagos state government .
To Raymond King, late chief Abiola stand for many things including sports,stressing that the football match gave them a nostalgic feeling to remember the man who put his life down for the country.
The former National Goalkeeper explained " majority of the players here today, we cried because of the man and I hope this tournament will grow bigger next year.
For scoring the winning goal, Bazuaye was adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament as he also won the highest goal scorer's award.
Dignitaries at the event includes chairman, Lagos state football association, bar. Seyi Akinwunmi, Ex-international, Segun Odegbami, chairmen Surulere and Apapa local government areas and Royal fathers.
