First Vice President of the Nigeria
Football Federation, Mike Umeh, has praised Nigeria's Super Eagles and
Super Falcons for making the country proud in the African Nations Cup
and the African Women Championship qualifiers played over the weekend in
Cross River and Lagos States.
Super Eagles beat the Wasps of
Rwanda by 2 - nil at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar through the duo of
Ike Uche and Ahmed Musa to qualify for the next round of the African
Nations Cup qualifier while the Falcons defeated the Zimbabwean side by
four unreplied goals at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos to book a
ticket for the African Women Championship in Eqatorial Guinea in
November, 2012.
Umeh,said the NFF technical
committee would meet today in Abuja to fashion out ways to further
support the Eagles in a bid to perform better in the next round of
African Nations Cup,adding that the team's head coach, has been able to
justify the fusion of Nigeria's Premier League players and the nation's
foreign based football players.
On the Falcons, Umeh, told Sportsweight.blogspot.com that the board of NFF never doubt the technical depth of Kadiri IKhana in surpassing the achievement of previous coaches who had handled the team, stressing that he Federation would engage the squad in series of friendlies to keep the team in a good shape ahead of the AWC in Equatorial Guinea
