Lagos State Volleyball Association Vows To Grab Gold Medals.

 As the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012 Games get closer, the Lagos State Volleyball Association,LSVA, is optimistic of clinching the Gold medal at stake in the volleyball event of EKO 2012 Games scheduled for November.

Its Head Coach, Oladipupo Taiwo, said the association had taken a bold step by recruiting the best volleyball players in the Para- military teams as well as reputable volleyball clubs in the state and positive response to training is worthy of encouragement.

"I do stand by it that the Team Lagos,Volleyball teams will clinch Gold medals.We have a big plan of getting the Gold medals because all the players are rearing for Gold.They are responding positively for the Games unlike before.This is a signal that they are positive of grabbing a Gold medal".The competition will engage itself in some competitions, the zonal elimination to assess the players and a friendly match in Kwara Statein September"

Taiwo, who doubles as the association's technical director, said the association under a viable chairman, Owolabi Martins had promised to provide necessary assistance that would aid the team quest of living up to expectations, adding that the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development had charged the association to feature in the zone one elimination in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The coach, explained that a total of twelve volleyball players each in the male an female categories would make the  final list to the Games as he stressed that the association would take part in an Invitational Volleyball Competition in Kwara State in September.

To him, no volleyball team sin the country not even Rivers State would pose any threat to their determination to grab the Gold medals as stake.

"No state in Nigerian can pose a threat to the team even the Rivers State that are paochin athletes across the nation".

On the just concluded maiden edition of the Senator Anthony Adefuye Volleyball Secondary School Championship, Taiwo, explained that total of twenty - eight volleyball players have been discovered as plans are in top gear to nurture them to stardom through the association's grass root developmental programmes.

"We have discovered over 20 boys and 8 girls that could be nurtured to stardom.The schools are now at holiday, very soon,we would invited them for camping to train with the established players to share knowledge with the Sports Festival bound squad"

He explained that the discovered volleyball players would have the opportunity to train the association's established players when the camping ahead of the EKO 2012 begins, stressing that plans are in top gear to deploy the association's coaches to some schools with the view of acquainting with the modern training techniques.

"The association is making a big plan because the First Senator Anthony Adefuye Volleyball Competition and many people are still coming to sponsor the sport at the grassroot level.To encourage secondary schools, the association coaches will now be deployed to the Secondary Schools to introduce the basic rudiments of volleyball to the schools games master"

He is optimistic that the association would attract more sports philanthropists to support their quest towards regenerating the status of volleyball
