Our Four Years Investment On Basketball Has Yielded Positive On Nigerian Basketball, Ugbe

MultiChoice Nigeria has said that its four years of its sponsorship deal of One million dollars has contributed to the qualification of Nigeria's basketball team,D'Tigers, for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

I will like to congratulate the board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, the coaching crew, the National basketball team and the entire basketball community  on the remarkable success of D'Tigers at the just concluded Olympic qualifiers held in Venezuala."It is heartwarming to know that our team qualified, against all odds, to participate in London 2012 Olympic Games for the first time in the history of the nation"Ugbe said.

Its Managing Director,John Ugbe, while speaking on Tuesday on the DSTV/NBBF final eight play off at the SWAN Secretariat,said the qualification of D'Tigers would again rekindled their spirit in basketball, stressing that with the support of the Federation, coaches, players,MultiChoice Nigeria would make the game of basketball number one sport in the country.

"I am sure a lot of you here will recall that prior to 2009, before we started our sponsorship, the Nigerian Basketball League,now known as the DSTV Basketball League was not this popular on TV.With sense of humility, i am proud to say that our four years investment of One million dollars while using our premium sports channel, Super Sports to promote the league on television has turned our clubs into household names in Nigeria.Our young ones can now associate with teams like Bauchi Nets, Dodan Warriors,Kada Stars, Kano Pillars, Niger Potters, Police Baton, Royal Hoopers, Union Bank among others"

Ugbe, said the advent of MultiChoice Nigeria on the Nigerian basketball league had elevated the status odf the sport as it has promoted the game of basketball through its premium sport channel,Super Sport,stressing that the company" unflinching support for the sport is borne out of their belief that their corporate push and support from NBBF would help to harness the abundant talents for the future successes.
