Head Coach of Flamingoes, Peter Dedevbo has called up 35 players as the team begins final preparation for this year’s FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup finals coming up in Azerbaijan between 22nd September – 13th October.
The Flamingoes dismissed their counterparts from Kenya and Zambia to qualify for the 3rd FIFA Under 17 World Cup finals, and were on July 6 drawn to play hosts Azerbaijan, Canada and Colombia in Group A of the competition.
Nigeria has flown Africa’s flag at both previous editions of the FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup finals, in New Zealand and Trinidad and Tobago.
While the team faltered at the group stage in New Zealand, it reached the quarter finals in Trinidad and Tobago, before losing in extra time to eventual champions Korea Republic.
After the camping in Abuja, Dedevbo and his girls will proceed to Europe for a two-week final camping programme before heading to Azerbaijan for the World Cup.
Ghana and Gambia are the other countries representing Africa at the party in Azerbaijan.
