Corporate Category of MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship Kicks Off On Saturday

The stage for the corporate category of the season five of MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship is now set as 12 teams are ready to fight for honours as the tourney kick off on Saturday at the Campos Stadium, Lagos Island.

 The competiton's draws was conducted yesterday at the conference hall of the Campos Mini Stadium in Lagos Island as the event was well attended by football administrators, football coaches, clubs and reprsentatives of MTN Nigeria.

The participating clubs are drawn into four groups of three teams each and the clubs are All Stars One, Multichoice FC and LASA FC, Island FC, Golden Ages and Kinetic Sports, All Stars Two, Storm All Stars and Managers FC, Lagos Channels, Lekki Strikers and Lagos SWAN FC.

The Executive Secretary of the MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship, Deji Aladegbemi, who charged the teams to play to the rules and eschew violence, said the corporate event would help the participating teams to network and also engender friendship, stressing that the committee is using the year's version of the Corporate category of the MTN Lagos Street Soccer Championship as a pilot scheme with the hope that the event would attract numerous corporate bodies in subsequent editions..

 Aladegbemi, who believed the committee had created a platform for the corporate individuals the opportunity to network and enjoy the beautiful game of football, adding that the Lagos State Government as well as the L.O.C would ever be grateful to the title sponsor,MTN Nigeria for keeping faith with the competition.

According to the draws, the competition will be played on a league format as the best two teams in each group will scale through to the quarter final stage while the event will be concluded next weekend at the Campos Stadium.

He explained that fifteen pieces of 42 inches LCD would be made available to the wining team while the second best team will get fifteen pieces of 32 inches LCD just as the third place team would go home with a fifiteen pieces of Home Theatre.

 Meanwhile, the round of 16 matches of the male and female events hold this weekend across the state with the top four teams progressing to grand finale scheduled for Sunday September 17 with Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola as special guest while the host is the State commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Wahid Oshodi.
