Lagos State Plans To Host International Beach Volleyball.

The Lagos state Volleyball Association,LSVA,is planning to host an international Beach Volleyball Competition in 2013 where the best beach volleyball playing nations,Brazil,Cuba featuring in the competition.

"Hopefully by next year we should be ready to organise an international tournament where Brazil,Cuba will be involved.We are working on it."

"Beach Volleyball is broken into three areas,we have regulars volleyball, Secondary school volleyball and Beach volleyball.

 "In April,we had the first Inter-club,regular volleyball event which was held at the Rowe park,In July, we did secondary school volleyball tournament and this month, we are doing Beach volleyball competition.

"Basically for volleyball,what we are trying to do in Lagos State is to quarterly events on all three different areas,said Adeleye.

Its Board member,Yemi Adeleye,who doubles as the co-ordinator of the just concluded Lagos Beach Volleyball which regarded huge success with the backing of Multi -Choice and Glaxo Smithkline was an indicationthat the association could redeem the Fortune of the Sport through regular Competitions.

 "Well,i can tell you,it would definitely be popular from now because we have newly inaugurated board that is focused and we are into the developnment of the game."This is the beginning of good things to happen to the sport". "We are going to change a lot of things because beach volleyball for example, Beach Volleyball is tied with tourism.

You look around many people have come with their families,we are having fun over here.we need to bring back that and we are focusing on doing that."

"The too many areas we are dealing it that Beach volleyball of the Secondary School, are one hundred percent ready for the development of the game.we are trying picking them up 13-14 year old that we end up playing for Lagos State in the next two editions of NSFin 2016.We might be able to promise 2014 because its close by but 2016,you will see us better."

While describing Beach Volleyball as an avenue to show the tourism potentials of the Lagos State to the world,Adeleye said the corporate bodies as well as the administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola,would be willing to support the association vision following their successful staging of a two day event.
"The oldest player would not be more than 20 year old at that time.that is part of our developmental proggrame the association intend to do.What we are trying to do is to have a junior team to work with.fifteen teams participated in the secondary school volleyball event out of those twenty players discovered and the association Coaches would soon commence training programme on them.

 "My main focus is the development of the game.Before,i got on the board,the association has already assembled a state team.we have a good team for the National Sports Festival tagged EKO 2012 we are going to surprise many state.

"The quality of players we have are good from the senior to the junior bin the boys and girls categories but as have said,my emphasis is on the grassroot development.

He said the newly inaugurated of the LSVA were focused to develop the sport into regular Secondary School volleyball and beach volleyball with a desire to elevate its status,adding that about twenty volleyball Players who were discovered from the Secondary School Event would soon invited for training Programmes.

 "We got adequate support from the National volleyball Federation.Beach volleyball ties with tourism,they go hand- in hand.one of the reason,we choose Bar beach was that we need to create an awareness.When an awareness is created then we can move around and we exploit others beaches in Lagos."

 He said the vision and mission of the association was to present a virile Squad that would win the Gold medals at stake in the 2016 National Sports Festival based on the association's developmental Programmes.
