The management of Messiah Football club has attributed its victory as the champion of maiden edition of Exrta Joss Soccer championship which climaxed over the weekend at the Legacy pitch, Surulere to prayers and dedication to succed.
Messiah football Club of Ifako-Ijaye, a team financed by Messiah Cherub and Seraphim, Ona-Igbala, defeated Apapa Golden stars by six goals to five on spot kicks after the match ended one good apiece.
Its team manager, Beecroft Adedeji, said the team was confined to a month fasting and prayer in a bid to record an outstanding victory at the grassroot football competition sponsored by Kalbe International.
Adedeji, who acknowledged that Apapa Golden Stars paraded credible football players but were unfortunate to win the event, said the Church’s General overseer, Micheal Abiodun Oganla had sponsored three football players to take part in international trials with some European clubs.
He commended the organisers for staging a unique football which was different from other grassroot competitions as he charged them not to relent in their efforts to continue with the event in a bid to discover and nurture players to stardom.
