The Central Bank of Nigeria has thrown its weight behind efforts to
develop and promote the game of beach soccer in Nigeria, with the
launching of CBN Beach Soccer Challenge Cup.
Slated for 30th November – 2nd December 2012, the three-day event at
the Jabi Lake, Abuja will see players drawn from the country’s
financial sector doing battle.
It is the first-ever corporate beach
soccer tournament in the country.
This championship is part of the programmes lined up to herald the
commencement of Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL), which will be
organized by Sports Solutions Limited in collaboration with the
Nigeria Football Federation.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Architect Abdullahi Abubakar, chief
executive officer of Sports Solutions Ltd, said: “The CBN Beach Soccer
Cup will be more than just a thrilling sports competition.
It will be
a perfect cocktail of soccer, music and dance.
“It promises to be a very exciting tournament that will really boost
productivity in the banking sector along with long-term growth that
will strengthen the sector.
Those attending will enjoy live soccer
action, halftime cheerleaders’ performance, a party atmosphere, live
DJ and a chance to win many prizes and giveaways.
“Sports Solutions Limited is leading the way for active participation
of the private sector in the re-launch of Nigeria as a formidable
force in the world of sports. We invite other corporate bodies to key
into this paradigm shift,” enthused Abubakar.
