Speaker's Soccer Cup Will Aid Development Of Grassroot Football, Syas Ayeni.

Ikeja Local Government football team will battle their counterparts from Coker Aguda in the opening match of the 2012 Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker's cup Soccer Championship scheduled for the Agege Stadium on Wednesday 14th November.
The Preliminary knock-out draws of the revered Grassroot Soccer tournament was held on Wednesday inside the old Hallow Chamber of the Lagos State of Assembly.
32 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas will participate in this year's championship with their Lagos Junior League teams vying for the new speaker's cup organised by the House in Conjunction with Lagos State Ministry of youth,Sports and Social developnment.
Speaking at the draw ceremony,House committee Chairman on youth,Sports and Social Developnment,Honourable Lawrence Bababtunde Ayeni reposed confidence in the Local Organising Committee(LOC) to stage a unique tournament.
The lawmaker revealed that the 6th edition of the Championship would see winners pocketing the sum of seven hundred thousand naira(N7000,00) second place team will get four hundred naira (N400,000)while third and fourth placed teams get three hundred thousand naira (N300,000)and one hundred and fifty thouand naira(N150,000) naira respectively.
In his own words the Commissioner for Youth,Sports and social development Barrister Wahid Enitan Oshodi, Commended the House Committee on Youth, Sports and social developnment for preserving the competition and its value, adding that the speaker's Cup would help the development of footballl in Lagos State.
Oshodi lauded the ideal of using the Lagos Junior league teams for the grassroots championship.
Highpoint of the draw ceremony include the presentation of Cheques to the winners of last edition.
