7th NPL Congress Holds In Abuja On Tuesday.

The seventh Annual Congress of the Nigeria Premier League earlier scheduled for last Thursday in Kano will now hold in Abuja on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 .

Its Acting Executive Secretary, Tunji Babalola who confirmed this in a letter dated 8th of December, 2012 and sent to the Chairmen of all the Premier League clubs, said that delegates for the Congress were expected to arrive on Monday, December 10, 2012.

Babalola, however, could not confirm the venue of the Congress in the letter but promised to communicate to the delegates as soon as the venue became certain.

The new date follows the directive from the Nigeria Football Federation after its emergency sitting on Friday where it set aside last Wednesday’s purported dissolution of the NPL management board led by Chief Victor Rumson Baribote by some club chairmen, less than 24hours to the NPL Congress earlier scheduled to hold in Kano.

The NFF in its communiqué reasoned that the purported dissolution of the NPL board was done without recourse to the Statutes of the NPL, and, particularly, described the meeting as not properly convened to deliberate on such a serious constitutional matter.
