Nigeria Racing Eagle's duo of Adrian Zaugg and Gugu Zulu were extremely impressive this past weekend at Silverstone in Northampton England and Gauteng South Africa respectively. The NRE Champions did not fail to impress in their various races.
Zaugg participating in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo showed why he is the NRE's lead driver this season, by grabbing yet again his customary pole position at the weekend in race one, Adrian was leading the pack and his hardline technique kept him in front, even while the other drivers pitted Adrian's strategy to stay out on the track as long as possible paid off he was in the lead when he handed over to the 2nd driver and teammate to finish the race.
They Finished on the podium in 2nd place. In Race 2 on Sunday Adrian Starting in P2 put a whole
lot of pressure on the race leader Cedric Leimer, Adrian's pressure on Leimer paid of as he took the lead and led the race before handing over to his teammate yet again to finish the race, though his teammate De nora could not finish on the podium this time around finishing 4th.
Adrian was overly impressive and yet again it shows the mettle of the Nigeria Racing Eagle's driver's ability to deliver when called on. Adrian set the race fastest lap at 2:06.922.
In the Toyota Gauteng Rally NRE's rally champion "Africa's fastest brother" Gugu Zulu was extremely stunning, despite losing his Co-driver at the last minute due to the arrival of his new born baby, a last minute replacement co-driver had to be drafted in, despite losing his co-driver and malfunctioning fuel pump issues resulting to losing out by 20seconds to the stage1 winners, Gugu powered back by winning stage 2 and stage 3 in style living up to his moniker "Africa's Fastest Brother".
In the 4th stage due to an error and a wrong slot, they lost the 4th stage by a minute, but due to his impressive performance in stage 2 and 3, he qualified for the special stage where he had to go head to head with the other stage winner and in grand style the NRE driver won convincingly, Finishing Day1 on a high.
On Day 2, with the fueling issues still yet to be resolved, they decided to run an extra 15litres of fuel in order to compensate for the fuel surge which meant running with an extra 15kg of weight, despite that he won stage 6, by 11 seconds and lost stage 7 by a mere 2seconds. All in all it was a good outing for Gugu as he finished 2nd on the podium.
