Croatian Tennis Star, Borna Coric Wins Futures 1 Governor's Cup Lagos Tennis.

For wining the Future One Men's Singles of the 13th Governor's Cup Lagos Tennis Championship, the International Tennis Federation,ITF, has elevated the status of Croatian tennis player, Borna Coric.

 Coric, number six seed player at the Governor's Cup, who was ranked five hundred and twenty- five (525) before the ITF Pro Circuit is now ranked four hundred in the world after defeating Ante Pavic, 6- 4, 6- 3.

 The 15 year old tennis player, says his target is to be ranked among the best ten tennis stars in the world, hence the reason why he has been working featuring in series of international tennis circuits to garner enough ITF points.

 Coric, who has played about twenty - five international tennis circuits across the world in 2013, says Croatian Tennis Federation, coupled with financial assistant from private individuals and corporate bodies have boosted his morale to win the Men's Singles of Governor's Cup Lagos Tennis.

"Winning the Junior tournament of this year's US Open gave me the confidence that I could win the Governor's Cup. "I worked hard and my hardwork paid for me. I'm so glad that I came to Lagos as a player on number 525 in the world ranking, but winning this leg has improved my ranking to 400.

This is a great leap. "I'm looking forward to the second leg with high expectation of winning it." Ahead of Future 2, which starts this week, the Croatian tennis star, promised to work hard to defend the Men's Singles victory as he believed that the second leg will be tougher. In the Women's Singles final, top seed Tadeja Majeric of Slovenia beat 8th seed Dalila Jakupovic of Slovakia in straight set of 7-5,7-5 to win the $25.000 prize money of Futures 1.

 In the Men's Doubles, the duo of Ante Pavic of Croatia and South African Ruan Roelofse beat Borna Coric and Dino Marcan of Croatia 7-6,6-2, while the pair of British ladies, Naomi Broady and Emily Webley-Smith defeated Cristina Dinu of Romania and Fatma Al Nabhani of Omar 3-6, 6-4, 10-7

 Meanwhile, seven Nigerian tennis players have been given wild cards to play in the second leg's Main Draws which serve off on Monday. They are Christian Paul, Nonso Madueke,Emmanuel Idoko and a Senegalese tennis star, Daoda Ndiaye, in the Men's Singles.

 Sarah Adegoke tops te list of Nigerian female tennis players in the Women Singles. Others are, Ronke Akingbade, Blessing Anuna, and Idia Amen, who is based in United States of America.
