The technical crew of Nigeria's Golden Eaglets, Manu Garba, has released the list of twenty- one football players to represent the nation at the 15th FIFA Under17 World Cup finals taking place in the United Arab Emirates between seventeenth of October and eight of November, 2013.
Team Captain, Mohammed Musa, Isaac Success and Idowu Akinjide lead the pack of the youngsters who will be aiming to make Nigeria the first country to lift the trophy for the fourth time.
Others are, Bello Zaraddeen, Japhet Raymond, Musa Yahaya, Chidera Ezeh,Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alfa Abdullahi,Chigozie Obasi, Abubakar Abdulazeez, Baba Salihu, Godwin Saviour, Habeeb Makanjuola, Okon Denis,Uzoha Odinaka, Chidiebere Nwakali, Abubakar Aliu, Godwin Samuel and Sunday Alampasu.
Nigeria play reigning world champions Mexico, Sweden and Iraq in Group F of the tournament, with the Eaglets’ first game against the Mexicans coming up in Al Ain City on 19th October.
Nigeria won the championship in 1985, 1993 and 2007.
Meanwhile,Golden Eaglets will tomorrow play against American University at the Dubai media city in United Arab Emirate.
The match is to ascertain the physical condition as well as their match fitness after few days of intensive training upon their arrival in Dubai.
In a related development, Nigeria Football Association,NFA, has earned the praises of the rank and file of the team over the choice of Dubai as their pre-2013 Under 17 World Cup camping site.
The NFA according to its Director Technical, Emmanuel Ikpeme, picked Dubai ahead of Qatar to acclimatise and acquaint the players with their environment before hostilities begin at the 15th edition of the FIFA Under 17 World Cup.
