Written By sportsweight.blogspot.com on Saturday, January 25, 2014 | 2:46 AM

Despite winning the preseason football competition in Lagos state, the chief coach of Sharks Football Club of Portharcourt, Gbenga Ogunbote says he does not have a perfect team yet as the 2013/2014 premier league season kick-off next month.

''I do not have a perfect team yet. We won't be carried away by this victory. It is pre-season tournament. It is not tournament where we are confined to making use of 15 players. I make use of everybody to see them in game situation. It was a good thing in our direction. It becomes a bigger challenge before us. With this, soccer fans will expect much from us in the league season. It is a signal of good things to Sharks in this season.

Ogunbote, who sees the victory as a good signal of good things to happen to the club in the league, said the team was still in the process of raising a formidable squad that could win trophies locally and internationally.

"The season is not yet on, and we are in the process of raising a formidable squad. No coach can vow of having a good squad even when the season is on, they will continue to strive to ensure of a solid squad, that we stand our desire goals. Th tourney has helped us a lot, we have seen our lapses. I'm looking at the areas to touch, areas to improve upon.

The former coach of Sunshine stars of Akure, said his aspirations was to raise a solid team where all the registered football players would be instrumental to the club's desire of winning the league as well as winning a continental ticket in the CAF competitions, stressing that the teams technical crew would continue to strive in a bid to form a good team even when the league begins.

while acknowledging that the league has enabled him to have overall assessment of the club prior to the league season, Ogunbote, said the clubs management must play its roles without levity in a bid to pick continental ticket as they need to complement the job of Sharks i.e technical team and the players dedication to excel.

"I'm bringing in ten players to fortify the team. Management wants me to get a continental  ticket is not a problem. Its not the job of the coach and players alone , the Management must complement it.They must play their roles perfectly. Its the duty to produce a good squad capable of winning trophies.

The coach, finally called " The Special one'', said his priority in the 2013/2014 Premier League season was to make appreciable impact in the season where the club would be an envy of other clubs in the league.
