The President of Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF, George Ashiru, has rated the performance of Nigeria's Taekwondoists at the Commonwealth Taekwondo championship in Edinburg, Scotland as Nigeria's best ever performance in international championships.
Nigeria won a total of 4 gold, 2 bronze medals to surpass the 3 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze won at the 1987 All Africa Games.
Ashiru, says the team's preparation and selection methodology paid off with superb performances with 6 medals from 10 athletes who competed in the first day of tournament.
To this end, the Senate President, David Mark, Honourable Minister of Sports, the Director General, and Director of FEAD at the NSC have already sent in congratulations for the great opening day performance of the Team at the tournament which features 550 competitors across the Commonwealth member nations.
