Basketball club of Lagos continue to write history on the African
continent as they set the record of the highest scoring team in a match
at the 2014 African champions cup en route their first back to back win
in the competition.
Lead by Nigerian Female League All Star MVP
Amaka Nwakamma's 22 points, 3 of 6 3 pointers and 4 assists and a
fantastic performance from double double machine Juliet
Currency who posted 16 points and 10 rebounds,Dolphins cruised to a
102-58 win over United States International Universty (USIU) Flames of
Kenya in their 2nd group B game at the African Champions Cup Finals in
Sfax, Tunisia on Monday night.
The Nigerian League runner up
started like a house on fire racing to a 24-5 lead in the 1st quarter
thanks to a swiftly executed offence and stellar defending. Despite
going to the break with a 28 points lead, it was a tighter encounter in
the 2nd quarter as the Flames outscored Dolphins 19-18 points.
Tokunbo Olaosebikan and Patience Okpe both added 13 points apiece while
Atosu Upe added 12 points as the Dolphins never looked back after break
winning the 3rd and 4th quarters 29-14 and 31-21 to record the highest
points scored (102)by any team in this year's tournament and the largest
win margin 44 points so far in the tournament.
In the gallant
loss, H. Luavandwa lead Kenyan team with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5
steals while resilient Z. Chan Liol put up 20 points, 18 rebounds and 3
steals as the only only players with double figures.
Next up for the Dolphins is Club Sportif Policere of Tunisia at 18 :00 GMT on Tuesday.
