Secondary Schools from Benue State have dominated the just concluded 16th Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship after emerging champions in the boys and girls categories of the tournament which ended over the weekend at te Sportshall of the National Stadium, Surulere.
In the boys event, Jesus College, Otukpo, Benue State became worthy and proud champion after defeating Henson Demonstartion College, Edo State, in the final that attracted dignatries and secondary schools students to the venue.
The 2014 champion, that won the competition by 72 - 59 points, redoubled its efforts after lossing the first quarter, 14 - 23, to win the remaining quarters, 35- 31, 54- 45, 72 - 59.
The offensive and defensive tactical approach of the Otukpo based Secondary School, explained that they are well prepared to win the this year's edition of the annual seconadry schools basketball competition as the strenght of their opponets, Henson Demonstration College, Edo State, was subdued after the first
quarter.
Odu Friday Egbondor of Jesus College, Otukpo, Benue State, who was adjudged the tournament's Most Valuable Player,MVP, in the boys category, said the team's winning spirit in them paved the way for their success, adding that the award would spur him to continue working hard.
Government Girls College, Gboko, Benue State, dealth with CAC Grammar School, Akure,Ondo State, with a 35 - 25 points to win the girls version of the tournament sponsored by Nestle Nigeria PLC.
Akena Doowuese of Government Girls College, Gboko, Benue State,won the Valuable Player,MVP, award following her contributions to the team's victory.
