LBHF Set To Expand Scope Of Saturday Boxing Show.

The management of Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame, LBHF, has concluded plans to widen the scope of annual monthly Saturday boxing show with the introduction of cadet junior and open boxing championships in 2015.

Its Chief Executive officer, Wale Edun, while speaking with our sports correspondent, said the competition packaged by LBHF with the support of Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association, LSABA, would not be a friendly bout anymore as the pugilists in the cadet, junior and open category in the male and female categories would engage each other in a serious boxing contest.

Edun said the Governor's Belt which comes up annually on Boxing Day, had been re - christened to Babatunde Raji Fashola Belt, in recognition of his tremendous support not only to amateur boxing but sports as a while, adding that he has built an institution that would long survive him.

On the bout between Gabriel Francis of Lagos State and Lukmon Lawal, a pugilist, from Ogun State in the heavyweight bout, Edun, Francis, a Lagos state champion, was dethroned because he was too aggressive and his punches were inaccurate, thus he lost on technical ground.

He said the management of LBHF and LSABA would heed to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola's advise to embark on a training tour of Cuba or top boxing nations in the world.
