Former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles star, Kabiru Akinshola, has signed a year contract with a Nigerian Premier league team, Sunshine Stars of Akure, for an undisclosed amount.

Akinshola, while speaking with sportsweight.blogspot.com, said he was fascinated with the club's style of play and also the four - nil thrashing of Kaduna United in the week thirty- seven of the Nigerian Premier League, adding that he is comfortable with the deal despite interest from Enyimba of Aba, Kano Pillars and Warri Wolves.

The former Golden Eaglets striker, said he would used his wealth of experience as former professional football player in Spain, Romania, Cyprus to assist the team to win the league and also secure ticket to play in the 2015/2016 CAF Champions league and also to play for Nigeria's home based Super Eagles, stressing that the team could only achieve better results if they play as a team and determined to surpass the club's past records.

The player, who dumped C.S.M.S iasis, a Romanian division one club in October, 2014, to pay for Sunshine Stars of Akure, said he decided to leave because the club was owing the players salaries for a couple of months.

The player, who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, said the performance of the Nigeria's home based Super Eagles in the international friendly against Cote D'Ivoire in Abu Dhabi showed that Nigeria's domestic league players are good football jogglers but they need regular international friendlies to expose them to modern football.

According to him, playing for Sunshine Stars of Akure will motivate him to put in his best in order to earn invitation to play for the national team, adding that it is sad that Nigeria's Super Eagles will not be featuring in the 2015 Equatorial Guinea African Cup of Nations which will kick- off on Saturday after emerging champions of Afcon in 2013 edition in South Africa.

Akinshola, said that he would be delighted to work under the tutelage of any coach appointed as the Super Eagles handler.
