Chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Felix Anyansi-Agwu will this week meet with Head Coaches of the U-23 National Team and the Senior Women’s Team as regards crucial qualifying matches for the 11th All-Africa Games’ football tournaments.

The Super Falcons drew 1-1 with their Malian counterparts in the first leg of their only qualifying fixture in Bamako on March 21 and wait to host their opponents in Abuja on April 5.

Siasia’s Dream Team faltered similarly, holding Zambia’s U-23 side to a 0-0 at the National Stadium, Abuja on March 22, and will travel next week for the return leg at the Levy Nwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on April 4.

“I have been mandated by the Executive Committee to meet with the Head Coaches of both teams and find out what they will need to ensure qualification. The NFF President is categorical that both teams’ qualification is non-negotiable.

“We will sit down and deliberate seriously on what must be done, what must be addressed. We cannot afford not to qualify for the All-Africa Games,” Anyansi-Agwu said in Abuja.

Anyansi-Agwu knows how painful it could be for the teams in question to miss out on the All-Africa Games. He is a ranking member of the NFF Executive Committee, meaning he was there when the two teams failed to make it to the 10th All-Africa Games in Mozambique in 2011.

That year, the Falcons lost to Ghana’s Black Queens while the Dream Team was ejected on the away goal rule by Ghana’s Black Meteors, losing 0-2 in Kumasi after winning the first leg 3-1 in Benin City.
