The Nigeria's Under 20 team became the first team to qualify for the 2015 U20 World Cup in New Zealand after they tallied six points from two matches.
They will face Cote d’Ivoire in a final Group A match on Saturday in Mbour to determine the overall leaders of the group phase.
However, Manu said his team will only be regarded as the best when they win a seventh AYC title on March 22.
“We have done very well so far but we can only be the best team of the competition when we win it,” he said.
“We have some very good sides like Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire, so we cannot afford to be complacent.
“The target now is to take the trophy back to Nigeria.”
Congo coach Paolo Berretttini congratulated Nigeria for their victory, but said his young team will keep working hard because they have a bright future ahead of them.
“This is a young team and we will keep working because we have a bright future ahead,” said the disappointed Italian coach.
“I only took charge of this team recently and so did not have enough time to prepare them for this competition.
“But all the same, congratulations to Nigeria who did a great job against us.”
