Head Coach of Flying Eagles, Manu Garba, has said his next target after conquering Africa is to make history by becoming the first team to win the FIFA Under 20 World Cup for Nigeria.
The Flying Eagles edged past host nation Senegal 1-0 on Sunday in Dakar to claim a seventh African Youth Championship for Nigeria.
Nigeria have twice come close to landing the Under 20 FIFA World Cup, but on both
occasions in 1989 and 2005 they fell short by losing the finals.
“We are the future of Nigerian football and now with adequate preparations, we will try to win the World Cup in New Zealand,” vowed Manu, who led Nigeria to win the FIFA Under 17 World Cup two years ago in the United Arab Emirates.
