The Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, has condemned the disgraceful antics of a Fenerbahce FC of Turkey fan against Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike.
Emenike, top scorer at the South Africa, 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals, was abused by his own club’s fan during a Turkish top division match against rivals Besiktas FC on Sunday, and asked to be substituted. But his coach pleaded with him to stay on and he was substituted at half time.
“We condemn in its
entirety the shameful conduct of the Fenerbahce FC fan and we demand
that the club investigate this incident to fish out the fellow who
taunted our international player.
“It is unacceptable to be racially abused on the field of play or anywhere for that matter, but for that abuse to come from your own club’s fan is the height of it,” NFF President Amaju Pinnick said on Tuesday.
Pinnick also made it clear that the NFF will write to the Turkish Football Federation to express its disgust at the filthy action against the Super Eagles’ star.
