The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has reiterated that embattled Super Eagles Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi, has to apologise for insulting the federation's president, Pinnick Amaju, on a live radio programme before his appointment as the team's Head coach.
Its First Vice-President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, who revealed this in an interview with sportsweight.blogspot.com, said the NFF technical committee had already submitted its reports to the NFF that Stephen Keshi should be appointed as the Super Eagles Chief Coach based on his pedigree in modern coaching techniques but the former Eagles handler must apologise to get the job.
The chairman, Lagos State Football Association, LSFA, said there should be no pressure on the NFF or Stephen Keshi to sign a new contract just as its being done in the past, stressing that the Super Eagles is in transition and that the future of Nigerian football is paramount.
Akinwunmi, who is optimistic that Super Eagles would qualify for the next edition of African Cup of Nations, Afcon, said the Executive Committee of NFF had accepted the blame of not featuring in the 2015 Equatorial Guinea, Afcon, adding that many issues were responsible for the team's failure to defend the 2013 Afcon title won in South Africa.
He noted that the Super Eagles was the top echelon of Nigerian football which starts from the Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles and the Olympic team, adding that the Super Eagles of today is not the end result as some of the fresh players who played against Uganda and Bafana Bafana of South Africa would replace some of the Eaglets stars.
