Nigeria's Supersand Eagles has failed to qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Portugal after finishing third at the 2015 African Beach Soccer Championship.
The team thrashed Cote d’Ivoire, nine- one to win a bronze medal.
Warri Wolves’ striker Abu Azeez weighed in with a hat -trick, as the irrepressible Emeka Ogbonna and Bartholomew Ibenegbu scored a brace each while Captain Isiaka Olawale and Losaka Junior scored a goal each.
During the group phase, the Supersand Eagles needed overtime to edge the Ivorians 7-6 at the Roche Caiman Sports Complex.
However, third place guaranteed nothing more than bronze, as the 2011 World Cup quarter –finalists will not be in Portugal for this year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
