Following the assault of Match Officils in their last home
tie against visiting Niger Tornadoes, the Nigeria National League (NNL) slammed
Mighty Jets of Jos with heavy fines to serve as a big warning to others.
For a start, the management of Jets will pay a fine of One
Million naira only for encroachment on the field of play and another sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira only for
assault on Match Officials which resulted to the abandonment of the Week 5
encounter in Jos.
The club will in addition forfeit three points to Tornadoes
in accordance with Article 4.3 (1) while it will play its upcoming home matches behind closed doors
in accordance with Article 6.0 (1).
In letter conveying the sanctions signed by NNL secretary Lawrence
Katken, the league body also handed an indefinite suspension to Jets player called
Ndala lbrahim who was said to have led the melee with three supporters of Jets
to molest the Match Officilas on the day.
NNL however said that the officials of Jets and Plateau FA
must produce the three unidentified supporters
involved in the attack within seven days of this letter.
Mighty Jets will have to pay the fines before its next home
match or face severe fines.
