8 Tertiary Institutions To Feature In Olumide Oyedeji Intercollegiate Basketball Championship

Eight tertiary institutions in Nigeria will participate in the Olumide Oyedeji Intercollegiate Basketball championship as part of his advocacy for sport men to get sound education along with playing professional sports.

The institutions are,Obafemi Awolowo University, Ahmadu Bello University,Niger State College of Education, Lagos State Polytechnic, University of Lagos, Federal University of Education, Gombe, Auchi Polytechnic and Federal College of Education,Technical, Minna.

Long time captain of the Nigeria's D'Tigers, Olumide Oyedeji, decided to stage the tournament as part of his advocacy for sport men to get sound education along with playing professional sports. 
The initiative adds to the D'Tigers' captains annual give back programme the Olumide Oyedeji Basketball Camp.

The veteran Nigeria captain, said the motivation behind the "Stay in School" campaign is to stress the need for education among sport men particularly basketball players and to revive the culture of School sports programme at the tertiary level which helped him on his way to becoming  a Pro athlete.

The tournament will dunk- off on Sunday at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sportshall, Teslim Balogun Stadium.
