The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, NTTF, says about twenty table-tennis players will be invited to closed camping, ahead of the All African Games in Congo Brazaville, in September.
Its President, Wahid Enitan Oshodi, said the NTTF would also pave the way for other notable ping-pongers to be part of the open camp in order to further acquire skills and also gain confidence while playing with top Nigerian professional table-tennis players.
While regarding table-tennis as a professional sport, Oshodi, pointed out the annual Lagos International Table Tennis classics and various international and national championships and the present international Table Tennis Federation's rankings have set the pace for NTTF to select qualty table tennis players for the closed camping.
The immediate past Commissioner for Sports in Lagos State, said, the Federation's technical committee and Executive committee of NTTF would ratify the list of players to be invited, stressing that, Aruna Quadri, among others, are still featuring in the European table-tennis circuits.
The NTTF President, who is optimistic that Nigeria would stand the chance of winning laurels at stake, despite the high standard of table-tennis in Egypt, said El-Lashin of Egypt is a legend who could be likened to Segun Toriola but his years of experience in the game is not a threat to the Nigerian table-tennis team that have world class players who are in good form to make the nation proud at the All African Games.
