FIFA and CAF instructor, Adegboye Onigbinde, has condemned the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, to part ways with Super Eagles chief Coach, Stephen Keshi, for seeking greener pastures in Cote D'Ivoire as the national coach of Les Elephant.
According to the NFF Executive Committee, the decision to terminate Keshi's contract was made having thoroughly reviwed the reports and findings of the federation's Disciplinary committee and its technical and development committee as well as having reviewed the actions and inactions of Keshi in the performance of his duties as Eagles head coach.
Onigbinde, explained that the sack of Keshi was an indication that there are a group of football administrators in the NFF who do not want Keshi as the team head coach, adding that there is no section of the Nigerian constitution which says that the coach could not seek for another lucrative job elsewhere despite having an existing contract with the NFF.
"I sent a text message to Keshi tat he should sent a Thank You" message to President Goodluck Jonathan for his intervention but he should reject the offer of the coaching Super Eagles."
While blaming Stephen Keshi for returning as Super Eagles coach after the intervention of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the FIFA and CAF instructor, said the NFF in its own wisdom should have increased Keshi's salary or devise a better means of retaining him if truly he was found guilty of being shortlisted for national coach of Cote D'Ivoire.
The former Super Eagles coach, who sees Keshi sack as political, said four foreign coaches whom the NFF had contacted for Eagles job had sent already sent copies of correspondents they received from the Federation to him with the view of assiting them to get the job, adding that the NFF had conceived the idea of employing a foreign coach long before the employment of Stephen Keshi in April, 2015.
"About 3 to 4 years ago, Siasia and Keshi were shortlisted for the Eagles job and as a member of the NFF technical committee,Keshi, was adjudged the best but the NFF announced Siasia as the Super Eagles coach without consulting the committee".I queried the NFF decision but NFF response was that 80 percent of Nigerians prefer Siasia to Keshi."
While shedding light on the reason why Stephen Keshi is not the favourite of football administrators in the NFF, Onigbinde, said Keshi was adjudged the best coach to handle the Super Eagles in on the 4th of November, 2011 after the federation's technical committee conducted an interview between Keshi and Samson Siaisa but the NFF upturned their decision and gave the job to Siasia
Siasia, was fired on 28th of October 2011 for failing to take the Nigeria team to the 2012 African Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Keshi Should Have Left Super Eagles Before His Sack, Says Onigbinde.
