The Nigeria Football Federation has
ordered the interim Head Coach of the Senior Women National Team, Super
Falcons to release some players to Clubs who have more than four players
in the national camp, for this weekend’s commencement of the Nigeria
Women Football League season.
The Women League, put on hold as a
result of the preparation of the Super Falcons for the FIFA Women’s
World Cup finals in Canada and for the period of the World Cup, will
resume this weekend across the federation.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, NFF
General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi declared that Coach Chris Danjuma
must comply with the provision that no Club shall have more than four
players in the national camp during the League season.
“Now that the Women Football League
season is resuming, we must be considerate to the plight of the Club
proprietors. The Super Falcons, as well as the Falconets, are preparing
for very important international engagements, but we also realize the
importance of the domestic League.
“Any Club that has more than four
players in the Falcons’ camp will enjoy the services of the remaining
number. For example, eight players from Rivers Angels have been called
to the Falcons’ camp. Four of the players will remain in camp while four
will be released to go and play for their Club in the League.
“However, we will not be able to release
players from the Falconets’ camp because the team has a World Cup
qualifier in Monrovia on July 11.”
