The Nigeria Olympia Association has called on the Federal Government to withdraw the national honours bestowed on Nigeria born Canadian Wrestler, Daniel Igali and John Fashanu.
Its newly elected President, Henry Amike, who made this known while speaking with Sportsweight.blogspot.com on his plans to regenerate the Association, said Daniel Igali did not deserve to decorated with a national honour,M.O.N, through sports because he did not represent Nigeria at the Olympic games where he won a Gold medal for Canada.
He told Sportsweight.blogspot.com that the title bestowed on John Fashanu as the Nigeria's Ambassador of Sports was a spite on the integrity of Nigerian Olympiads who had placed Nigeria on the world's map and such act would be codemned to pave ay for Nigerian government to appreciate it athletes who competed at the Olympic Games.
He added that Fashanu has never played for Nigeria and there are many Nigerian athletes who after their success at the Games were left at the mercy of God, adding that the Federal Government needs to partner the Association togive a new lease of life to Nigerian Olympiads.
Amike, who assured that the Association would soon unveil its plans, said they would create a platform to improve the welfare of the Olympiads, adding that Nigeria has only one hundred and seventy five Olympiads who had featured in the OLympic Games ever since it started in 1952.
According to him, only Nigerian atheltes that took active role in the Games would be considered and not tose who ent but failed topaticipate in any event.
