Dolphins Football Club of PortHarcourt has suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Kaduna United on Sunday at the Ranchers Bees Stadium.
Kingsley Elvis put Kaduna United ahead as early as the 16th minute when he capitalized on a defensive mix up to slot home from the six yard box.
A free kick taken by Idris Dada was headed badly by Dolphins captain, Emah Godwin over his goalkeeper, Afeso Attah only for on rushing Elvis to connect for goal.
Dolphins would have themselves to blame for the goal any way as they could have gone ahead four minutes earlier when Emem Eduok headed wide a free ball from an Uche Oguchi free kick.
In the second half, Dolphins took the game to their opponents but were not able to score despite having more of the possession.
But in the 58th minute, Jude Aneke scored the simplest of tap ins when Dolphins defence was torn apart by a combination of passes that finally ended with Aneke face to face with Afeso Attah in goal.
With ten minutes left to play, Victor Michael pulled on back for Dolphins latching on a shot from Owusu Addae.
The goal angered the home fans who threw missiles at the referee for not disallowing the goal they thought was offside.
However the situation was brought under control quickly and the game went on.
Owusu was hacked down badly in the dying minutes but the referee waved play to go on and Kaduna rejoiced over yet another home win.
Maurice Cooreman, head coach of Kaduna United said his side will only get better.
“We are always happy when we win. It is just that the fans get inpatient sometimes. We will build on this victory and see how far we can go from here,” Cooreman said.
