The Nigeria Football Federation’s Electoral Committee has shifted by a few weeks the election of Representatives of the Leagues into the NFF Executive Committee.
The election of the representatives had earlier been fixed for the forum of the Annual General Assembly of the NFF scheduled for Uyo, Akwa Ibom on 28th of December, 2010.
There was to be election of representatives of the Nigeria National League, Women’s League and Amateur League into the NFF Executive Committee.
Rising from its meeting in Abuja on Friday, the Committee stated that the postponement became inevitable in view of the delicate nature of the festive period, and concern for the safety of lives of aspirants and other stakeholders.
Each of the three vacant seats have between five and seven candidates vying for them.
“We have considered a whole range of matters and we concluded with every sense of responsibility that the best option is to postpone the election. The Annual General Assembly will still go ahead but we will have to hold the election next month”, said Barrister Mustapha.
The elections will now go ahead on Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Abuja.
