The match between Nath Boys and Oriade F.C has been regarded as a showdown like never before in the history of the Lagos Junior League.
It was a turbo charged affair from start to finish with both side sustaining stress injuries due to the tempo of the game. The game ended with a total of eight goals scored and dozens of chances created.
Nath Boys started the match in a blazing fashion with the mercrucial Aminu Abubakar opening proceedings with a wonderful goal in the 8th minute as Nath Boys doubled their lead in the 11th minute through Uche Oscar.
Oriade pulled one back in the 28th minute through Muyiwa Adediran in the 28th minute.
Nath Boys were in for a shocker as Oriade scored two goals in quick succession with Kelvin Ugah scoring a brace in the 38th and 39th minute while Bello Rauf spared the Nath Boys blushes leveling the game in the 45th minute.
The second half started like the first No 30 Rabiu Abdullahi putting Nath boys ahead again in the 47th minute. Once again, Oriade Fc Leveled things through Last Seasons’ highest goal scorer Eze Christopher in the 50th minute.
From then onwards both teams just kept trying to score the winning goal.
Things got intresting when Nath Boys got a penalty in the 93rd minute when an Oriade player handled the ball in the area. No 12 Emmanuel Egege only managed to smash the ball onto the upright to end the encounter in a 4-4 draw.
Head coach of Nath Boys, Yisa Shofoluwe, has said that the team did not play to capabilities.
While rating the officiating as very fair and of high standard, Shofoluwe, said there was nothing they could do after the team missed a penalty, adding that his boys failed to pay to instructions.
The coach, said his team would peform better in their subsequent matches as he commends Oriade F.C.
The captain of Oriade F.C Eze Christopher, who was last Season highest goal scorer,stressed that he intends to surpass the 14 goals tally he scored last season,adding that he conceeded some unnecessary goals
