Chairman of the
Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) Technical Committee Christopher Green and his
Security Committee counterpart Effiong Johnson on Tuesday paid a
surprise visit
to the 1 GAME office in Calabar.
The NFF Executive
Committee members said there were in the 1 GAME campaign office to
reaffirm the
support and commitment of the nation’s football governing body towards
achieving a violence-free game.
Speaking on the visit,
Technical Committee boss Christopher Green said he was excited at the
prospects
of the campaign and promised the NFF’s continued support for zero
tolerance to
football violence and fanaticism.
“What 1 GAME is doing
is
highly commendable and I’m excited at the progress it has made. It’s a
great
thing to be here today, at a place where great people sit to formulate
ideas
that will protect the image of football and keep it safe.
“I must say that the
NFF
is proud of the achievements of this campaign and will continue commit
to the
objectives of the 1 GAME initiative,” Green said.
On his part, Security
Committee head, Effiong Johnson said it was important to show support to
the
campaign and visiting the 1 GAME office was one way to express gratitude
for
the efforts of the anti-violence initiative.
“There is no better
way to
say thank you than being here to shake hands with those who deserve it. 1
GAME
has been on the forefront of the campaign against football violence and
they
must be applauded,” Johnson said.
The visit of the NFF
board
members was the first of its kind by any official of the ‘Glass House’
to the 1
GAME campaign office, a situation the initiative’s founder Philip Obaji
was
quick to commend.
“I’m glad Green and
Johnson came calling. Both men are key players in football
administrationin the
country and have reaffirmed the commitment of the NFF and their
respective
Football Associations toward achieving a violence-free game,” Obaji
said.
