It was a celebration of time for the Royal Hoopers Basketball Club of PortHarcourt for retaining the DSTV Premier Basketball League Final Eight play - offs which came to en on Saturday at the Sportshall of the National Stadium, Surulere.
Royal Hoopers basketball club that defeated Union Bank Basketball Club to lift last season's trophy repeated similar feat by beating Kano Pillars basketball club in a One sided game that ended 65 points to 52.
The PortHarcourt based basketball club which only loss a game to Kano Pillars in Group B preliminary game redeemed her image as the defending champion by picking three quarters leaving Kano Pillars to win a quarter, 19 - 17, 19 - 10, 10 - 11, 17 - 14.
The battle between the club and Dodan Warriors basketball club at the semi final stage enroute the final was the most challenging for Hoopers because Warriors had been widely tipped to this year's edition of the DSTV Premier Basketball League Final Eight play- offs but the Hoopers players were in good frame of mind controlling the pace of the match which ended 71 points to 65.
To Royal Hoopers, it was a sweet revenge for beating Kano Pillars at the final after lossing in a controversial manner during the group B preliminary match.
